Gabriel "FLASH" Elorde (March 25, 1935 – January 2, 1985) is remembered as a legend in Filipino boxing history, with an unmatched seven-year title reign in the super featherweight division, the longest in history, and multiple championship titles under his belt. He joins the ranks of other esteemed Filipino boxing champions such as eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao and Pancho Villa of the 1920s. He is the first Filipino international boxing champion since middleweight champion Ceferino Garcia. His status as an international boxing champion and cultural icon has made him an inspiration to many, and his legacy continues to live on in the Philippines.
